Grove Park in Escondido: A New Spot for Family Fun
If you’re looking for a new place to enjoy some outdoor time with the family, there’s a new addition to Escondido worth checking out: Grove Park’s brand-new splash pad.
Located at 745 N. Ash Street, Grove Park has been part of the Mission Park neighborhood, but it recently added something that makes it even more fun for families. The new splash pad is Escondido’s first dedicated splash pad, giving kids a new place to cool off and play without having to travel far.
A New Way to Enjoy Grove Park
The new splash pad officially opened with a ribbon-cutting on September 26, 2026, making it one of the newest family-friendly additions to Escondido. The splash pad is designed for interactive water play, with multiple water features and a large tipping-bucket-style feature that gives kids plenty of opportunities to run, splash, and cool off.
And the splash pad isn't the only reason to visit.
Grove Park already offers a playground, basketball court, walking track, open turf area, picnic tables, pavilion, restrooms, and parking, so families can easily spend more than just a few minutes there. The park is also ADA accessible.
Great for a Simple Family Outing
Sometimes the best family outings don't require a big plan. Pack some snacks, bring towels and sunscreen, and let the kids spend some time playing in the water.
Because Grove Park is a neighborhood park, it also makes for an easy stop if you're already in the Escondido area. Families can enjoy the splash pad, take a walk, have a picnic, or let the kids play on the playground.
And the best part? The splash pad is free to use.

A New Community Spot to Put on Your List
One of the things I love about San Diego County is that there always seems to be something new to discover, even in places that have been part of our community for years.
Grove Park is a good example. With the addition of the new splash pad, this neighborhood park now gives local families another easy option for getting outside, spending time together, and enjoying a little summer-style fun.
So if you're in Escondido and looking for something simple to do with the kids, Grove Park may be worth adding to your list.
Just remember to bring towels, sunscreen, water shoes, and plenty of water — and be prepared for the kids to not want to leave! 😊
Before You Go: Park amenities and splash pad hours can change due to maintenance, weather, or seasonal schedules. It's always a good idea to check the City of Escondido's official park information before heading out.
